Cristina da Silva owns and runs HWL. Over the last 25 years
Cristina has accumulated extensive experience   in the horticultural
industry, including scientific research, sales, communications, and
garden design, installation and maintenance.

Cristina's experience is supported with formal education. Cristina has a
Bachelors and a Masters in Horticultural Sciences. She also has a
certificate in Residential Garden Design as well as a certificate in Editing.
Cristina regularly upgrades her skills and education through seminars,
workshops and courses.

With a scientific background, an innovative flair and an eye for detail,
Cristina has enjoyed designing and writing about gardens in Canada,
USA and Australia.

A passion for sharing ideas, information and inspiration led Cristina
to garden writing. Cristina started garden writing   as an in-house writer for
Gardens & Outdoor Living, an Australian national magazine.
Currently Cristina writes the bi-weekly condo gardening column
for the Toronto Star and freelances for home and garden magazines.
